Another Wednesday, another show

This week's playlist is quite interesting. a mixture of punk, new wave, disco, dance, rock and roll... I realize that I do repeat some songs. I'm trying to keep things fresh, but it gets tricky, especially since I only own so many albums and so many mp3s. It gets boring I hate to say it! Thank heavens Rohan walked in the middle of my show with the new Rapture and Scissor Sisters Albums. He really got the party going with some dancey stuff that rocked at the same time. I will probably do the station's review of the new Scissor Sisters. I'll make sure to write up something about it. I get the feeling I'll enjoy the album. Oh, by the way, Rohan picked out Madonna song of the week. If you want a particular Madonna song played, let me know ahead of time and I'll plan it out!

As for special of the week (I figured of just calling it that) I did a huge block of classic pop punk/emocore stuff. Mostly, it's from the early to mid 90's. I wanted to play music that I've been thinking about lately. Honestly, I've been listening to a lot of Jawbreaker. I think they are probably one of the most unrecognized bands from the early to mid 90s. They are the ghosts who should have been HUGE, but fate didn't have it that way. I also played Hot Rod Circuit, who almost recorded part of their album in my living room.

If you have any ideas to what I should feature, go ahead and post it! I'm all ears. I'm thinking of doing a slight tribute to old school Bryan Adams and doing a huge stack of alternative country. Hell, I might do a ska episode!

As for the rest of the show, I wasn't planning on going on today for Four hours! But I'm a sucker for djing. To leave, turn off the transmitter and not play stuff for the seven people listening online was just a bad idea. I love music too much to leave people hanging. Hell for sticking around, I got a request! Someone actually called the radio station and asked for ladytron. I hate to say it, but I don't like them much. I realized this after trying to find a song to play. Perhaps, this is proof to why I never got into electroclash stuff.

normally, there's only one link you would need to access the mp3 file of my show, but since I covered another show, there's another link to get if you're interested!

now keep in mind, the archive changes each wednesday. So to get this week's goods, you have to do it before the next time i'm on the air. i hope that makes sense!

So, I think next week, I'm going to go anti-keyboard, which means no synth pop exactly. it's kinda simular to my anti-guitar shows. Hopefully next week, I won't have to play for FOUR HOURS! you have to forgive me, i'm tired from today and i'm still a bit pissed that this dj didn't even call or email me! I feel right now like just playing punk, rock and roll, soul and things that just sound good.

Now for some other things... A good friend of mine who is also a DJ, has an awesome show you should check out. In the past six years i've known Chris Bro, he's introduced me to good stuff like David Gray and gave me a huge appreciation for stuff like Massive Attack (it wasn't that I didn't like them, I just didn't pay too much attention to why they're so fucking great! One day he told me to check out Blue Lines. enough said!) So go check out his radio show called NEXT. He plays new stuff that is pretty damn good. You can check it out online at 1071thepeak.com. The show happens Wednesday Nights at 11 pm and repeats Sunday Nights at 8 pm.

Looking at the clock I realize that it's time for me to go pass out... i mean go to bed. I have a 9:30 am class tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is Thursday which means my weekend is soon. (I don't have classes on Fridays. go ahead be jelous!)

Enclosing here is my current thought of the week: Tea with Morrissey... I figure me and him could discuss and mope over politics, literature, being alone, and how yummy shortbread cookies are. That's right Moz, everyday doesn't have to be Sunday.

That is one great playlist...you rock.

Thanks for the plug you can also mention my blog at agloriousmess.blogspot.com

I am really digging Yo La Tengo, Bob Schneider and Jennifer O'Connor's latest cds. You should give them a listen.

Looks like Wednesdays are the day for good tunes.

More later

i'm glad you like the playlist! that show was a bit out of the ordinary, but it happens. i just play whatever i can find and whatever i can grab. nothing is really planned. i might have ideas to what i want to hear or what i might want to introduce people to, but as to order and stuff, it's pure madness.

I meant to mention your blog last night. eventually, i will give a plug for that as well! btw, i really enjoyed your show last night. it was refreshing! i'll definately check out what you listed.

and amen to wednesdays being a good day for music!
